Intro
The tiny house project is a project that has given us the task of designing a space where all of the basic features and accommodations of a normal home can be comfortably possessed in a home that is the size of a bathroom. These include a sleeping area, a bathroom, a kitchen, a working space, and even a washer and dryer. Despite the small space, the house holds all the functionalities that a normal house would have, including water and sewage plumbing and electricity. Furthermore, this house is being built for a client who intends to use the house as it is built for--to live in. Being a project that has so many components, many classes have worked on this project yet none have finished. However, our class will be finishing up the large majority of the house and presenting it to the client in a few short months.

My Role
Loft and Interior/Exterior Fine Finishes Project Manager
In this project I applied for and received the task of Loft and Interior/Exterior Fine Finishes Project Manager. With this role I am over the finishing touches of the house, for example, installing seams/trim on the walls, installing interior accent walls, and painting walls to name a few. Furthermore, I am over installing the mini-split which will allow the house to be cooled and heated. Finally, I am over troubleshooting vital parts of the house that were not completed properly. Arguably one of the most important roles as the project manager is leading a team that is looking at me for leadership. I have the duty of assigning individual tasks to team members to progress and complete while also evaluating the work that they complete. Below is a link to the schedule with we used to track tasks in progress as well as task that need to be completed.

Today in class as the project manager, I began planning out my team's schedule for the next 2 weeks so that we can work as efficiently and proactively as possible. As seen in the picture, this comprehensive schedule details the task and the needed materials and tools for everyday's work. With these considerations taken prior to class, our team is able to get started and work diligently for all the time allotted. Today, I also surveyed the house to determine what is first step that needs to be done for our first day of work. This was determined to be installing ceiling insulation, therefore next class our team will begin with this task.
In class today my team and I first worked to place our scaffolding inside the tiny house as seen in the picture. This was an important step because it will be used to install insulation and wood paneling on the ceiling. Next, we began work on the loft insulation. As seen in the picture to the right all loft insulation is complete. The remaining two bays are located above the 1st floor. Therefore, our task next class will be to begin insulation on this section and also begin attaching wood paneling to the loft ceiling.
In class today the ceiling team was able to finish the ceiling. This was a very significant completion because they completed the task two days ahead of schedule next class they will begin installing ceiling sheathing. The loft team worked to dimension the first wall of the loft. Seen in the picture is the work done in class.
In today's work session, I worked on the right wall sheathing of the loft. I used a jig saw to cut out the holes needed for things such as windows, power outlets, and light switches. After doing this, unfortunately, the pieces didn't perfectly line up, however to conserve materials, another hole was cut and the hole not used will be patched on a later date. This was an extremely valuable learning experience that demonstrate how precise the dimension of the wall needs to be. My team also worked on beginning the ceiling sheathing.
Covid Update
Unfortunately in response to COVID-19, our school shut down for the remainder of the school year and we were unable to complete our tiny house. We plan to gift our work to a nonprofit so they can complete it and find someone in need of a home.
